From the slopes of the Cordillera mountains to the shores of Palawan, ancient Filipinos have created steps, gestures, sounds and songs that reflect their values and mores.

  1. A Vast Cultural Heritage.

Music and dance, being highly symbolic expressions of the people’s way of life, are an integral part of Philippine culture. From the slopes of the Cordillera mountains to the shores of Palawan, ancient Filipinos have created steps, gestures, sounds and songs that reflect their values and mores.
The diversity of these indigenous dances testifies to the country’s vast cultural legacy.
It bespeaks the different rituals of yesteryears—from spiritual ceremonies to rites of passage to events depicting the cycle of life. Royal successions, courtships and marriages, planting and harvesting, and even warfare, are recurring themes in the melodies and dances.

These have been passed down from generation to generation, synthesizing traditional beliefs, notions and social conduct.

Philippine native music and dance gives a peek into the lives of Filipinos long ago and even of tribal communities that still strive to preserve and practice their traditional way of life in remote villages and mountain fastnesses.

The Principalia Suite

The dances and music of the Filipino Wealthy during the Spanish Period was distinctly coquettish, romantic, formal and rich in attire.
